Environment Ministry to Launch ‘Prakriti Khoj’ – An Environment Quiz on Teachers’ Day

  1. In the term of increase the awareness about the environment, the government will launch a national-level online quiz competition, “Prakriti Khoj”, tomorrow. “On Teachers’ Day, it will be the best way to teach the young minds through fun-filled activities and to trigger their sensitivity towards environment protection and conservation,” an environment ministry statement said.
  2. “This will help in sensitising students to issues related to the environment and motivate them about conservation-oriented lifestyles,” it added.
  3. In this quiz there has been the three age group has been selected for the Phase-I that will be start in the Eco-clubs i.e. in the age-groups 8-12 years, 13-15 years and 16-18 years. After this age group there will be the decide of the child on the base of the feedback from the participants, the second phase of the quiz will be open to students from all schools across the country in the year 2018.
  4. Thematic areas like climate change, biodiversity, forest and wildlife, pollution, waste management, rivers and lakes, natural history, international conventions such as Convention on Biological Diversity, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora etc. have been chosen for the quiz.

  2. Viral Acharya, the youngest deputy governor of RBI, said, “As many have pointed out, it is not clear we need so many public sector banks. The system will be better off if they are consolidated into fewer but healthier banks,” Mr. Acharya said in one of his speeches. “Historically, bank stress of the order we face has almost always involved significant bank restructuring.”
  3. “These banks with less core capital, low provision buffer and high level of un-provided NPLs [non-performing loans] would need substantial amount of equity capital for NPL resolution, going ahead. Some of these banks are expected to have made presentations to Finance Ministry,” the note said.
  4. “The likely merger would create a lot of complexities in terms of lesser core capital, high net NPLs, branch rationalisation and reduction in human resources productivity for the merged entity. At present, we’ve an example of the merger of SBI with associate banks and Bhartiya Mahila Bank; post-merger, the merged entity fundamentals have weakened significantly,” the note cautioned.
