  1. Agriculture Minister of Andhra Pradesh Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Monday has did the announcement of the launch of the of third installment under Crop Loan Waiver Scheme.
  2. “We have started releasing the third installment. It comes upto 3600 crores. Till today, almost 7.89 lakh farmers came to take the third installment. We have already released 914.33 crores so far. The total amount will come to 3600 crores,” said Reddy.
  3. “The CM has taken dynamic decisions to help the farmers,” Reddy added.
  4. The Andhra Pradesh Government, in the month of September has invested the Rs 3,600 crores for the third tranche amount of the third installment, under Waiver Scheme in the state.
  5. According to Somireddy, the crop loan waiver is the only the best option for the of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) during its election campaign. However, the government came under criticism for not fulfilling its promise.

  3. “Besides nutritional supplements, counselling and other maternity benefits will also be provided at the Anganwadi centres under the scheme. We’ve had phenomenal response from the pilot run of the scheme in four taluks last year, and have decided to roll out the project across the state” Siddaramaiah said.
  4. “Despite the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (of the Ministry of Women and Child Development), the improvement in the maternal and child health indicators of Karnataka has been slow compared to the rest of the South Indian states,” the statement said, giving the reason to launch the ‘Mathru Purna’ scheme.
  5. “In a lot of Anganwadi centres, we are very short-staffed, with just one worker and a helper. It makes it very hard for such centres to cook these meals and provide,” Varalakshmi told to the media.
  6. “We’ve seen during the mid-day meal scheme implementation that many children are kept away from eating the meals if they are prepared by an SC or ST worker. In case of a pregnancy, the customs are even more deep-rooted in the society. This is the reason we’ve asked to see the results of the pilot run. Without results, there is no use putting in all the effort,” she said.

  4. “The two sides are also expected to discuss trans-border crimes, including cattle smuggling; activities of Indian insurgent groups based in Bangladesh, prevention of illegal migration, joint efforts for effective implementation of common agenda programmes and other confidence-building measures,” they said.
  5. “The two sides will also take up issues that were discussed when a BSF delegation visited Bangladesh in February this year. “The relations between the two forces are very cordial and the aim of these talks is to take them forward,” they said.

Reliance Communications gets final nod from DoT for merger with Sistema

  1. The Department of Telecom (DoT) has given the approval for the Sistema Shyam Teleservices with Reliance Communications, the Anil Ambani-led telecom compnay has announced in the report of the statement. With this merger deal, the number of mobile operators in the country will come down to ten.
  2. “Reliance Communications Limited (RCOM) has received the Department of Telecommunication’s (DoT) approval for the demerger of the wireless business of Sistema Shyam Teleservices Limited (SSTL) into RCom,” the telecom firm said in an announcement filed with the BSE.
  3. “With this, Rcom will acquire approximately 2 million customers and additional annual revenues of around Rs 700 crore. In addition, RCom will acquire 30 MHz of the most valuable and superior 800/850 MHz band spectrum, ideally suited for 4G LTE services, to complement its own unique nationwide footprint,” the statement said.
  4. “This will result in extension of the validity of RCOM’s spectrum portfolio in the 800 / 850 MHz band in eight important Circles (Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, UP-West and West Bengal) by a period of 12 years—from 2021 to 2033,” RCom said.
  5. “As a result of the demerger, SSTL will receive a 10% equity stake in the fully diluted equity share capital of RCOM. In addition, RCOM will assume the liability to pay the DoT instalments for SSTL’s spectrum, amounting to Rs 390 crore per annum for the next 8 years. The closure of the transaction is expected by the first week of November 2017,” RCom added.
