Lok Sabha passes two key bills for implementation of GST in J&K

  1. On Thursday the Lok Sabha has presented the two bills by increasing the Central GST and Integrated GST on Jammu and Kashmir, with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and said that this increase of the GST that will bring the greater change in the country in the economic.
  2. The minister said, “The dream of economic integration of the country has been full filled. A national party like Congress should not have got into it. This was an argument given by the seperatists,”
  3. “In such a circumstance, the cost of products in Pathankot (near the Jammu and Kashmir border) would have been cheaper than in Jammu and Kashmir. In this case, the traders in Jammu and Kashmir will buy products from Pathankot and would sell them in state. This would not have been a good situation for the consumers and traders of the state and even it would have impacted negatively the revenue of the state,” he said.
  4. Earlier moving the bills, Jaitley said, “The state assembly had passed the State Goods and Services Tax and integrated it with the GST and in view of it, these two bills have been brought.”

Govt inks MoA to set up IRRI’s regional centre in Varanasi

  1. On Thursday there is the Agriculture Ministry has created the memorandum of association (MoA) for the establishment of the companies of the global rice research institute IRRI in Varanasi, the prime minister constituency, to develop high- yielding rice varieties.
  2. The Philippines-based International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), whihc jhave created its branches in the 17 countries, that is best known for its works in the rice varieties that contributed to the green revolution in 1960s.
  3. Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said, “The rich biodiversity of India can be utilised to develop special rice varieties. This will help India achieve higher per hectare yields and improved nutritional contents.”
  4. “This will be the first international centre in eastern India which will play a major role in harnessing and sustaining rice production in the region,” the ministry said.

SBI to raise 2000 crore via BASEL- III bonds

  1. State Bank of India has been planning for the rise of the Rs. 2,000 crore by presenting the Basel-III compliant bonds to all the invester’s bank.
  2. “The committee of directors for capital raising accorded its approval today to allot 20,000 AT1 Basel-III compliant non-convertible, perpetual, subordinated bonds in the nature of debentures… aggregating Rs. 2,000 crore to various investors,” SBI said in a regulatory filing today.
  3. SBI has announced that this bond will carry the total of the coupon of the 8.15 per cent per annum in that there will be the option of the call after 5 years or the anniversary date thereafter.
  4. In the term of shares there is the trade of the 1.67 per cent lower at Rs 302.50 on the BSE.
