Asia’s Largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar Opens for Visitors

  1. There has been the start-up of the tourist season in Jammu and Kasmir has been started and by this there has the started the Asia’s largest Tulip garden here on the banks of the iconic Dal lake.
  2. Jammu and Kashmir Tourism minister Tasaduq Mufti and Floriculture Minister Javed Mustafa Mir has been visited as the first of the visiter of the tourist in this season.
  3. In this, the department of the floriculture has been planted more than the 12.25-lakh Tulip bulbs of 40 varieties and colors in the 10-hectares garden, Mir said, adding that 20 per cent bloom was recorded on its opening day.
  4. There will be the full bloom has been done in some days. I am happy that tourists have started coming here and I expect a bumper tourist season this year, the floriculture minister said.

 

AAI Signs MoU with Assam Government

  1. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) on Monday has signed a MoU with Assam government under its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) start-up of the being development of human settlements at villages in Kamrup district, an AAI statement said here.
  2. The AAI has been going to support as the financial to the CSR initiative of Rs 4.58 crore for the Kamrup district as per the estimates prepared by the UNDP to improve the resilience of communities around Guwahati Airport.
  3. The AAI by the term of the CSR policy supports such like the startup and the start of the promoting infrastructure for convenience of the population with a view to improve the resilience of communities, the statement added.

 

Government Guarantee for IRFC Bonds

  1. In a significant move, the Ministry of Finance has given the approval for the praposal that the government has given the guarantee of ₹ 5,000 crore in the current financial year for Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) has been going to sign the bond for the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).
  2. The guarantee fee in this amount has been raised by the Ministry, said a release.
  3. In this there has been the decision has taken in the term of the Ministry of Railways to undertake projects.
  4. The Ministry of Railways, that has to be present in the term of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LIC on March 11, in the year 2015 by which LIC has to provide a financial assistance of ₹ 1,50,000 crore for identified Railway projects from 2015 to 2019. In terms of the MoU, IRFC has been raising funds from LIC by issue of bonds having a tenor of 30 years and remitting the funds to Ministry of Railways for construction of Railway projects.

Surat Becomes 1st District to Have 100% Solar Powered Health Centers

  1. In term to reduce the global warming from the city and to stop this the cities like the Gujarat’s Surat district has switched to solar power to combat the issue.
  2. By this, the Surat has become the first district in the country to have 100 percent solar powered Primary Health Centers (PHC).
  3. In the city there are the 52 PHCs in the district and all of them now has been powered by solar system. By this startup there will be the bring out of the electricity bill by 40 percent but also help fight global warming.
  4. “Other than PHCs, there are 572 gram panchayats in the Surat District, out of which 150 are solar powered gram panchayats and soon the other 422 panchayats will too be solar powered. 25 percent of the total expense of making the gram panchayat solar powered has been borne by the district panchayat,” District Development Officer K. Rajesh told ANI.

 

3, 21,567 Affordable Houses Sanctioned For Urban Poor under PMAY

  1. The projects were sanctioned across 523 cities in the states of Haryana, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Mizoram, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab & Goa.
  2. Haryana has been sanctioned 70,671 houses in 55 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 7,261 cr with central assistance of Rs.1,060 cr. West Bengal got 59,929 houses in 86 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 2,431 cr and central assistance of Rs.899 cr. Rajasthan has been sanctioned 54,821 affordable houses in 48 cities with an investment of Rs. 2,519 cr and central assistance of Rs.822 cr.
  3. Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned 39,683 houses in 121 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 1,059 cr with central assistance of Rs.595 cr. Gujarat has been sanctioned 35,851 houses in 19 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 2,204 cr with central assistance of Rs.467 cr. Mizoram got 15,798 houses in 16 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 316 cr and central assistance of Rs.237 cr. Karnataka has been sanctioned 11,941 affordable houses in 58 cities with an investment of Rs. 605 cr and central assistance of Rs.179 cr.
  4. Maharashtra has been sanctioned 10,639 houses in 15 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 863 cr with central assistance of Rs.156 cr. Madhya Pradesh got 5,426 houses in 11 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 289 cr and central assistance of Rs.81 cr. Bihar has been sanctioned 8,154 affordable houses in 10 cities with an investment of Rs.388 cr and central assistance of Rs.122 cr.
  5. Kerala has been sanctioned 5,073 houses in 32 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 203 cr with central assistance of Rs.76 cr. Himachal Pradesh got 3,345 houses in 41 cities and towns with an investment of Rs. 55 cr and central assistance of Rs.50 cr. Punjab has been sanctioned 176 affordable houses in 1 city with an investment of Rs. 9 cr and central assistance of Rs.2.7 cr. Goa has been sanctioned 60 houses in 10 cities with an investment of Rs.2.43 cr.

SWIFT Introduces Universal Real-Time Payment Tracking

  1. SWIFT has said that it has been going to increase the gpi Tracker to cover all payment instructions that has been send at the all over the world’s network. By this, there will be the start of the gpi banks to track all their SWIFT payment instructions at all times, and give them full visibility over all their payment activity.
  2. This Tracker, has been facilated from May in the year 2017, enables banks that have signed up to SWIFT gpi to track their gpi payments in real-time. From the 18 November this year, a unique end-to-end transaction reference has been added in that which will show the all-11,000 customers on SWIFT across more than 200 countries and territories. This will give gpi customers full end-to-end tracking of all their gpi payment messages quickly and efficiently, bringing even greater transparency and cost reduction.
  3. “The extension of the Tracker to non-gpi payments is a major step forward. It will significantly extend transparency and it will drive more banks to join the service, rapidly making gpi the new normal in cross-border payments”, said Navinder Duggal, Group Head of Cash Product Management from DBS, one of the early gpi adopters in Asia.

ISSF Junior World Cup: Manu Bhaker-Anmol wins air pistol mixed gold

Veteran journalist V. Sriharsha passes away

  1. Veteran journalist Veturi Sriharsha has been died at the age of 62 years because of the cardiac arrest.
  2. Sriharsha was working as a media consultant with the GMR Group after retiring as Bureau Chief of ETV (Delhi). Before that, he has worked with The Indian Express, Pioneer and Deccan Chronicle.
